FOOD PANTRY AND PANTRY GARDEN
Over the past two decades, the Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church Food Pantry has grown into a guest-choice pantry, where more than 70 volunteers serve approximately 1,766 guests per month. Over 40% of our guests are children. The Pantry’s mission is simple: feed anyone who comes through the door. The gracious and generous donations by the Kountze congregation whether it be time, talent, or treasure continues to bless our hungry neighbors in need. Here, all welcome.
Come and be filled.
Hours of Operation:
Mondays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
(Exception— when a national holiday falls on a Monday or if Omaha Public Schools cancels classes due to snow, the Food Pantry will be closed and resumes the following Monday. Please contact the church office at (402) 341-7761 with any questions.)
How can you help?
The Food Pantry can always use more volunteers. Help is needed during pantry hours, shopping, picking up bakery goods, and working in the community garden. If you would like to help, contact the Church Office at (402) 341-7761.
The Pantry buys most of its food from the Food Bank of the Heartland for about .16 cents per pound. Monetary donations marked “Kountze Food Pantry” can be mailed to the church, placed in the offering plate, or use the Giving Kiosk at the Welcome Desk. If you prefer to shop, the following items are always appreciated: cereal, oats, canned meat, canned fruit, canned pasta sauce, pasta, macaroni and cheese in a box, pork and beans, soup, peanut butter, and squeeze bottle jelly.
During the summer months, the Food Pantry needs volunteers to pick, sort and transport produce from our Community Garden to Kountze Memorial. If interested, please contact the Church Office. God Bless all our donors and volunteers!
