MUSIC

The music ministry at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church is well known throughout Omaha and is a vibrant and vital aspect of our worship services and special events. Our music ministry includes children, youth, and adult choirs, bells, strings, brass, woodwinds, and our historic 47 rank Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ, providing unique opportunities for all ages to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through the gift of sacred music.

Adult Choir

Our Adult Choir sings most Sundays at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.worship services, as well as throughout the year for festive liturgies. Through sacred works and festive hymns, our adult choir provides life and energy to our many worship services. Rehearsals are held Sundays at 7:45 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.. Additional rehearsals are held on the first Wednesday of the month, 7:00-8:30 p.m. If you are interested in joining the choir, contact Barb Carlsen, Director of Music and Fine Arts, in the church office at 402-341-7761 or by email: barb@kmlchurch.org.

Children’s Choirs

Our Joyful Sounds Children’s Choir rehearses on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. and then join their parents in time for Communion. The choir usually sings for Worship once a month. Historic Aeolian-Skinner Organ

Built by the Aeolian-Skinner Organ Co. of Boston, Massachusetts in 1949 and originally dedicated on Oct. 15, 1950, our organ commemorates the sacrifice made by Kountze’s members in the Armed Forces. It is one of the finest instruments of its kind in the country containing 46 ranks and some 3,000 pipes. A $1.1 million refurbishment and chamber expansion was completed in late 2014. Dedicatory organ concerts were held throughout 2015 that welcomed guest organists from around the country. Today, our historic organ continues to provide beautiful sacred music for our weekly worship services. Click HERE to learn more about our historic organ.
