THE GOSPEL WRITERS SURROUND JESUS
The original Kountze library, located on the south side of the educational wing's second floor, was originally the church's office area. Located here are renditions of the four gospel writers with Jesus as the Good Shepherd. The order of the five pictures is MATTHEW, MARK, JESUS, LUKE, and JOHN. The "Good Shepherd" and " Lost Sheep" images appear in John 10:7-18, 25-29, in Matthew 18: 12-14 and Luke 15: 4-7.
These windows may be viewed in a slightly large size by clicking on each window.
These gospel writers are symbolized above the transfiguration in the window on the east wall of the sanctuary. Jesus as the "Good Shepherd" can also be seen in one of the scenes in the Life of Jesus window in the balcony of the sanctuary.
BIBLICAL STORIES FOR CHILDREN
Exodus 2:1-10. Baby Moses Luke 2:14. "Glory to God Luke 2:7. "She gave birth

Matthew 2:9. "And the I Samuel 3:9. "Speak

GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST
Located in the hallway to the church office, this Christmas window illustrates the story recorded in LUKE 2:1-20. We see Baby Jesus in the manger, with Mary His mother and the shepherds. In the upper left corner is the angel announcing, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace to men of good will."
This window repeats the theme seen above in one of the windows in the church office. Also - one of the scenes in the Life of Jesus window in the balcony of the sanctuary shows Mary with baby Jesus.
This window was given in memory of Capitola K. Butt.

MOSES IN THE BASKET
The king of Egypt had commanded that every Hebrew boy be thrown into the Nile.
In Exodus 2:1-10 we read.
...when she could not hide him any longer, she took a basket made of reeds and covered it with tar to make it watertight. She put the baby in it and then placed it in the tall grass at the edge of the river. The baby's sister stood some distance away to see what would happen to him.
The king's daughter came down to the river to bathe... Suddenly she noticed the basket in the tall grass and sent a slave girl to get it. ...'This is one of the Hebrew babies," she said...
"I pulled him out of the water, and so I name him Moses."...
GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST
Luke 2:8-14. There were some shepherds in that part of the country...An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone over them. "Don't be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people. This very day in David's town your Savior was born - Christ the Lord.
...Suddenly a great army of heaven's angels appeared with the angel, singing praises to God; "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased!
SHE LAID HIM IN A MANGER
Luke 2: 7
She gave birth to her first son, wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a manger - there was no room for them to stay in the inn.
THE STAR WENT BEFORE THEM
Matthew 2:1-12
...some men who studied the stars came from the East to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the baby born to be the king of the Jews? We saw his star when it came up in the east, and we have come to worship him."
...(The star) went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. They went into the house, and when they saw the child with his mother Mary, they knelt down and worshiped him. They brought out their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and presented them to him....
SPEAK LORD THY SERVANT HEARS
I Samuel 3:1-21.
...The Lord called Samuel a third time; he got up went to Eli, and said, "You called me, and here I am."
Then Eli realized that it was the Lord who was calling the boy, so he said to him, "Go back to bed; and if he calls you again, say 'Speak Lord, your servant is listening.'" So Samuel went back to bed. The Lord came and stood there and called as he had before, "Samuel! Samuel!"
Samuel answered, "Speak; your servant is listening."...
