The Parish Nurse promotes holistic health care (mind, body and spirit) for individuals, families, groups and the congregation as a whole. A parish nurse focuses on the promotion of health within the context of the values, beliefs and practices of a faith community.

Vinn Stephens serves as Kountze's Parish Nurse. She began her nursing career in pediatrics at Children's Hospital, where she also later worked in the Emergency Room. She has also worked at the Student Health Center at UNO, in maternal and infant care at University Hospital, and at an orthopedic hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
When she returned to Omaha, she obtained an Associate's Degree in chemical dependency. She worked in addiction counseling for 2 years before becoming a part-time nurse at Catholic Charities, working again in chemical dependency.
The Parish Nurse fits into the caring ministry of Kountze, which includes the Stephen Ministry, a caregiving class, the Eucharistic ministers, the visitation ministry and the food pantry.
Stephens works on education, prevention, wellness and using our faith in both healing and prevention. Watch for her monthly article in the Good News Newsletter and announcements in the Bulletin.
